Our adventure begins at the Ritacuba Blanco snow-capped mountain. Soloing is for the brave and strong! The first section is flat, traversing the diverse landscapes of the páramo. The ascent begins along the banks of the Ritacuba River, passing waterfalls to Playitas, where you can see Arenales and the viewpoint of the Nevados de Ritacuba, San Pablín, and Pan de Azúcar peaks. At the end, you’ll reach the snow-covered edge of Ritacuba Blanco.
If you’re looking for something more peaceful but still long, the Laguna Grande trail is for you. You’ll pass through the great Frailejones Valley, where you’ll see giant frailejones that are hundreds of years old. During the ascent, you’ll see the Cuchumba cave and waterfall, the Men’s Cave, Laguna Grande de la Sierra, and the snow-capped peaks of Cóncavo, Portales, Toti, Pan de Azúcar, and Púlpito.
